after looking for exhaust for my 15 and lots of reading and email and phone Convos with Keith at Dirty Deeds I went with their Long dual dump. Its been on for about a month . All I can say is freaking awesome. I love the sound Its mean and if you want to stand out and want a nice clean sound go with Dirty Deeds. They have lots of options. Customer service is top notch. Product quality second to none.
Any chance you're in CO? I'd love to hear one of these in person before I order...

So I looked at the Bam exhaust and watched the installation video and it says you can easily convert it back to the stock configuration but how can you do that if you cut a 2" hole in the tailpipe for the resonator? What would it sound like if you didn't install the resonator, I'm assuming you'd get a drone?

Keith can also build the helmholtz into the muffler itself without putting it on the tail pipes. I got the TRD replacement from him and added the TRD factory tail pipes. Love it!

Or, you could just leave it in place.

I am loving the TRD Pro exhaust. For me it is just right. Not crazy loud. Tons of videos on youtube that gives you the general sound of each system.

I bought the 8" BAM and it was too loud for me so I took it off and went back to stock. I actually tested the system w/out the resonator first and noticed some in-cabin drone and then installed the resonator (used a plasma cutter to cut the 2" hole). Honestly after installing the resonator I personally didn't notice any difference. Neither did my brother. But anyway since the system was too loud for me (mostly when on freeway, going over mountain passes) I went back to stock. I was left with the 2" hole. All I did was buy a scrap piece of exhaust tubing in the same diameter from a local auto parts store (probably could have gotten it for free from an exhaust shop) for like $5. We took the tailpipe out, cut the scrap piece to make a patch that fit over the hole and then welded it over the hole. Hit it with a couple of coats of some high-temp spray paint and bolted it all back together. Since it's only 2" hole you could also use a wide exhaust clamp to cover it I guess.

I have the 6" system without the resonator installed and love it. I have taken it on 4 hour trips (backroads and highway, so good mix of speeds from 45mph to 80mph) with the family and had zero complains from anybody during those trips. Also tow a 9,000lb trailer during race season that's why I went with the 6" instead of the dump system. Can't say enough good things about the Bam system. Love it and glad I went with it for my exhaust.

Damn now I'm more confused on which exhaust to go with, guess I better start listening to a lot of sound clips.

Not trying to hijack this thread! Yesterday I installed the BAM 8" Standard. I started yet another thread, just to attempt to give my opinion on this particular system. It's here:
http://www.tundratalk.net/forums/tu...undra-performance-modifications/660178-8-bamuffler-damn-you-tundratalk-net.html

I listened to dozens of youtube clips. None of them gave me a true representation of sound. Just crappy cell video, camcorder, and some go-pro's (those were the most accurate, but even they didn't represent real life). Most of them were just people revving their engines on the driveway as well. Useless. This is why I'm not going to bother putting yet another lame youtube video up of exhaust sound.

If you're confused, talk to Keith directly. From my experience, the 8" is more about audio tone, where as the 6" is more of a raspy, louder vibe. The problem is, the sound is purely subjective. Which is where Keith may be able to offer some info us customers can't. After all, he designed the systems, and he's super easy to talk/email to. No pressure or salesman tactics with that guy.

In my thread, I'm trying to describe as accurately as possible, what the 8" system sounds like (and no power loss according to Keith and the butt-dyno).

Yeah you're exactly right, I'm not going to get an accurate depiction of what an exhaust sounds like from a video unfortunately. And peoples reviews are hard to go by because different people have different opinions as to what is too loud and what isn't and acceptable levels of drone and so on. I currently have the Magnaflow system on my 4Runner and I like it, I think the TRD system I had on my FJ was better though. I would like the TRD system as I'm sure it's pretty mellow during normal use and roars to life when you get on it but the thing I don't like is the dual side exits, to me that's too old school. A 3" out of one side of duals out of one side would be more to my liking. Anyways I'll take a look at your thread and give Keith a call when I'm ready to do something, thanks.

My neighbor has the magnaflow and a few houses down the dude has the TRD exhaust neither are as loud or as aggressive as the BAM long dump I have on my truck. I couldn't be happier with my exhaust . It feels good when you get thumbs up from other drivers when they hear it

I've had the TRD system on my 5.7 for about 2,000 miles and like it more now than when I initially installed it. I still get the "helicopter" effect, when under light throttle, but think an "h" pipe is the answer to this. I like the fact that at cruising speeds on the interstate you can have a conversation with your passenger without raising your voice level above normal and it is plenty aggressive under anything near full throttle; I think it's a keeper, but quite pricey

I installed Keith's 12 inch standard system almost 2 months ago, and I'm very happy with it. I have a thread in the Performance Section too, so I won't re-hash everything here. If you want a powerful performance tone without a huge increase in volume, this is the system. It's louder than stock but quieter than the TRD dual system in terms of volume. I've driven a couple Tundras with the TRD system - loved full throttle; hated the helicopter thing at 50 or so mph, and got tired of the constant low throttle rumbling. The 12 inch system is deep, clean and has some throatiness when you're into the throttle - and no popping or crackling noise anywhere.

Ditto for the 8" system. Sometimes I forget it's there at certain cruising/throttle speeds. Nice and refined inside the cab, with a subtle reminder of the rumbling taking place outside. It sounds reeaaaal nice. A blip of the throttle and it reminds you it's there. Not slamming the straight pipe guys. But, the BAMuffler options seem to be performance sounding exhaust for adults/old guys like me. We want a ballsy sound, but don't care for the obnoxious LOOK AT ME sound. More importantly, many of those guys with the loud systems mash the throttle, make a ton of noise, yet their trucks move reaaaal slow. Zero low end. I see that a lot on those Honda's too, except it sounds like a can of bees.

The BA Mufflers = BALLS AND CHUNK

I just read you're thread in the Performance Section. I wonder how the 8 inch BAM system with the long bed compares to the 12 inch BAM system with the standard bed.
I bet @dirtydeeds could help there. I'm thinking changes would be minimal, if any. Probably the extra foot or so of pipe wouldn't be an issue. Since Keith designed all of his systems, he'd know.

I suspect whatever you are looking for, he could match a system to it.

Man... I'd never have thought I would be pimping an exhaust system so much ;)
