It will stay where it is. A 2.5 is supposed to create a 3" lift.

 

Wow. Guess I'll get some 1" blocks.

 

I did the same thing, and had the same result. I ended up adding the 1.5" Rough Country rear blocks. There is a very slight rake to the front and it looks GREAT!!

 

It will settle. My 3" spacers were almost 3.5" of lift when I first put it on. After a few hundred miles it sat at 3" of lift.
The spacer itself does not settle, it is the rest of the bushings that do.

 

What most people do not do after installing a level kit is to get the upper and lower control arm bushings back into their neutral position. This is accomplished by having the vehicle sitting on level ground and then loosening the upper and lower control arms, bouncing the vehicle a few times and then tightening everything back up. Failure to do this puts excessive preload on the bushings and makes for incorrect ride height. If you don't do this it's not the bushings settling, it's the bushings deteriorating. This practice is really suspension 101 but surprisingly no one seems to practice it.

 

Would it then be a good idea to wait a few weeks for the settling to have the alignment done?

GET THE ALIGNMENT DONE ASAP. Lifting the front end throws off the alignment in a big way and just driving it a short time can kill a set of tires in a heartbeat. Also with the alignment begin out it could very well make the front end sit higher than it is supposed to.
