HELP! Problem with Multi-Information Display

Hello,

Thanks for reading my post.
I just bought a new 2014 Tundra Limited CrewMax 4x4 last week. So far I am loving it!! I noticed what I think to be a problem today. It's in the Multi Information Display - the little color screen in the instrument cluster. The display when you turn on the truck a little animation of a spinning Tundra shows up. That display.
I'll try to describe the problem(s) the best I can.

1. Every time I get back into the truck and drive the "Average MPG" and "Average Speed" are back at Zero (0). It's like the display resets them every time the truck is turned off. This seems weird that it would reset each time. The owners manual states "Displays the average fuel consumption since the function was reset"......."The function can be reset my holding the DISP button for more than 1 second..."

2. I leave the "Outside Temperature" feature ON every time while I am in the truck. However, every time I get back into the truck the display is reset to "Average MPG". I feel like whatever the last screen displayed should show back up each time I start the truck.

Any ideas? Can anyone help please!!!

definitely resetting, just like a battery disconnect. check all fuses might get lucky, but sounds like a trip back to the dealer.

PLEASE - if your viewing this thread post a response.
I would love to hear everybody's ideas.
I love this truck and am frustrated at the idea of a problem with it.
Please

My average MPG does not reset but I feel like my average speed does..

I believe this is the correct statement.

The average MPG should only reset when "you" reset it.

I think the average speed is reset each time you start the truck? But I have not really checked that one.

If the average MPG is always resetting....then fuse, wiring, electrical....is not correct. The dealer should be able to fix that in a second. The key word is "should".

14TundraS5,
Thanks for the response. Does your display default back to the display that it was last left on?
Example: Outside temperature is on. You turn truck off, then later come back in. Does Outside Weather come back on? Or something different?

I just went out to the truck and verified for you.. Average MPG does not reset, but speed does and it looks like it only does once the truck is started(turning it on without cranking does not reset it)

Yes mine always reverts back to the previous display.. I looked through all user settings and found nothing that we could change.. Maybe they can hook it up to theirs and see if its something they can change for you..

The elapsed time and average speed, and current mpg range resets each time. Average MPG is constantly changing and does not reset until you reset it.

The display should show the last screen you were on each time you start it up.

So if you turn your truck off with the temperature, when you start it back up it should load up the spinning truck and be on the temperature where you left it.

You are saying yours is not remaining on the last setting each and every time you turn it on/off and you have continually tested this leaving it on multiple different pages?

I'd also like to take the time to say this display is pretty weak and the least feature I care about or use, but its nice to have. I just wish I had a temperature readout in the dash along with the time, and I feel like they could have condensed multiple of the screens into one so you don't have to flip through 6 screens while driving for redundant information. Kinda annoying actually.

PFunk,

Yes, every time I turn truck off the truck then back on, the truck goes back to Average MPG. Which again, resets itself back to 0.

For about the first 900 miles I left mine set to "Average MPG" unless scrolling threw the others.

During the last week cold snap I have left it set to Outside Temp (that should be displayed all the time next to the clock!!!!). Each time I get back in the truck a start it....the display stays in the last place I set it. And if I scroll back to Ave MPG it is still accumulating the Ave MPG (it is not reset, unless I reset it).

Like someone stated earlier.. Try unhooking the battery and hooking it back up.. Lord knows computers can do some crazy things and sometimes a simple restart is all thats needed.. But it definitely sounds like you have a valid issue, whether its something toyota cane change with the techstream or like bigtex said, some kinda short in the reset button..

Let us know how it works out..
